potting herbs

Well we just had to try this.  Save and clean egg shells, add dirt and seeds, sprout, and crack egg and plant.  Easy.  The only hard part is where to put them.  I have them sitting on the dash board.  The kids have full access so we’ll see how long this lasts.

Rory was chattering away about the eggs as we finished the parade to the dashboard (while singing ‘for they’re the jolly good fellows).  It took me a moment but I realized that she thinks these will hatch into chicks.  I feel like I’m messing with her mind, using the egg shells to grow something new.  But they’re so cute.  I can’t wait for them to sprout.

we stop for lambs

Wasn’t it thoughtful of the Grays to herd the four momma sheep and their lambs into the pen near the road!  There’s black lambs up South Road too.  Domesticated animals are so much easier to photograph.  These little lambs barely looked up when I stopped the car next to them and walked up to the gate.  But did I have the patience to wait until at least one of them looked up? no. boo.

spring!

Spring is here.  We saw a hummingbird feed at our feeder and lambs at a farm down the road!  Our alders are dropping so many catkins Liam is collecting them in piles.

maple buds on the maple tree

We have this beautiful maple tree in the middle of our lot, and she’s producing these colourful buds, lovely!

Note to self: clean bird bath.  Actually the chickadees and Douglas squirrels drink here.  And the birds tend to bathe in our fountain.

ocean spray buds

More ocean spray buds.  These are so much prettier than the messy, winter ocean spray twigs in amongst our evergreen salal patches.   Happy Spring!
